Studios Technical Director

You will be a key member of our team, directing and delivering the production of high-quality video content for LSEG and our commercial clients, in our TV studios and event spaces.

Job Summary:

You will work closely with other members of the Broadcast Studios and Film team and our freelancers to rig temporary equipment including cameras, broadcast and streaming technology. You will also be expected to problem solve technical requirements raised by our clients. You will oversee the technical aspects of running a live studio gallery, including, but not limited to vision mixing, sound mixing, and VT playout The expectation is that you will guide and train freelancers who are new to our facilities. Where necessary you will be expected to fulfil any studio role.

Our studios run on Ross infrastructure, with a TouchDrive vision mixer and Ultrix router.

We are looking for someone with a can-do attitude.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Plans, directs, and when necessary, edits a wide range of internal and external video and audio communications for multiple delivery channels - ranging from digital/hybrid events, to corporate interviews, and presentations, demos, live webcasts and podcasts
  • Directs and vision mixes multi-camera productions
  • Leads large or complex productions without supervision​; take responsibility for gallery operations - lighting, vision and camera racking, sound mixing, vision mixing, transmission control, studio operations
  • Set up and operate broadcast equipment including Ross TouchDrive, Ross Carbonite, Ross Mira, Christie Spyder and AJA Bridge Live and Calrec Brio 36/Type R
  • Maintain high standards of technical quality, adhering to industry best practices
  • Installs a studio or location set up to enable delivery of bespoke digital and hybrid events
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues as they arise to ensure smooth production
  • Work collaboratively with freelance crew and LSEG studio staff to execute top quality broadcasts.


Qualifications and Experience:

  • Previous relevant experience in multi-camera studio production and direction, broadcast gallery operations, vision and audio mixing, ped and robotic camera operation
  • Strong technical skills in video production equipment, especially with Ross workflows
  • Outstanding project management and organizational skills
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite – Particularly - Premiere, Photoshop,
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing project requirements and schedules
  • Knowledge of financial markets and terminology is advantageous
  • Degree or equivalent experience, or equivalent and/or relevant professional qualification.
