Location – Stamford Bridge Hours – Permanent – Full time JOB FUNCTION: Chelsea Creative Studio is an in-house video production team that services the entire club. The aim is to create industry-leading video content that fans love, that grows the club's profile, entertains fans of both the men's and women's teams and crucially supports the commercial team, including delivering value for the club's partners. The majority of the videos made are for CFC’s owned channels (web, app, stadium), YouTube and its social media channels. There is also an ambition to develop brand campaigns in-house and to develop innovative content formats that can be distributed or streamed via a wider range of broadcast platforms. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES: Creative vision and idea generation (30%) - Set the direction and creative vision for the video production team, this would be aligned with the new CFC brand direction
- Put in place frameworks, and create the right working environment, to encourage creativity and idea generation which leads to output that will entertain our fans, please our partners and deliver results for the business
- Push the boundaries of content production for a sports team by using the club's IP to create exciting new content formats and live streams that can grow the brand globally and bring in new revenue streams via partnership or broadcast deals
- Drive the team to create repeatable content formats that will drive return users to our website and app (often behind a sign-in to drive data collection)
- Utilise archive assets to create engaging content formats that can help us increase global fandom and can be monetised via the mina digital platforms
- Enhance the video content that is broadcast on the big screens at Stamford Bridge on a matchday
- Ensure all output aligns with Chelsea’s brand, tone & style and upholds the club’s values
- Agree KPIs and targets with the wider digital function; all output should aim to achieve these collective goals.
Elevate partner and marketing campaigns (25%) - Create video content that is creatively valuable and commercially viable
- Work with the partnerships team to create content to fulfil commercial contracts whilst being engaging for fans
- Create new content formats that the partnerships team can sell to partners
- Work with the wider marketing team to help assist in the execution of campaigns, for example, creating video assets to sell tickets, merchandise, memberships and hospitality
- Work with the social team to optimise revenue generation from appropriate video channels e.g. YouTube, META and TikTok.
Driving excellence in production, processes and technology (20%) - Lead an in-house studio to deliver high-quality, quick turnaround, day-to-day video output serving the marketing teams, the club’s partners and CFC’s digital channels
- Work with the Production Lead to create effective and efficient workflows, ensure these are communicated across the business
- Ensure the quality of output is both industry leading and consistent across club, social and partner video production
- Drive excellence and innovation in terms of post-production and the use of technology, for example, utilising the latest editing techniques, using AI and the latest software/platforms
- Put in place processes and plans to syndicate relevant Chelsea content via third party channels
- Work with the Entertainment Director to report on the financial value the CCS video team is providing back to the business.
Build a high-performing team (25%) - Provide inspiring leadership to the video production team; set clear performance expectations, goals and coach them to superior levels of performance
- Develop initiatives to strengthen the depth of organisational talent within the direct team and build a culture of learning, openness and empowerment
- Inspire a continuous improvement mindset and commitment to lifelong learning.
PERSONAL SPECIFICATION: - Have led a video production team, this could be in sport, advertising, film, TV or entertainment
- In-depth knowledge of what works on web, app, YouTube and all main social channels.
- Track record of industry leading creative output either idea generation or managing creatives
- Extensive experience working in video production, ideally in a range of roles (creative, producer, director, editor, manager etc.)
- Proven track record of developing and/or fostering great ideas and creativity in terms of taking a brief, generating ideas through to delivering high-quality assets
- Strong commercial acumen, used to creating and delivering video content that delivers against commercial goals such as driving sales, supporting marketing campaigns and branded content
- Highly collaborative and able to work with multiple people from multiple departments
- Worked across a range of video production output, from short form social edits to longer-form documentary style output, from live TV to branded content
- Experience in production management, for example, running production meetings, scheduling, budgeting and assigning roles and responsibilities
- The ability to communicate (or pitch) ideas to a range of stakeholders e.g. senior management, talent (football players), clients (partners/sponsors) as well as the people making the videos
- Creative and innovative thinker, able to lead ideation and leverage best-practise from other industries to ensure ongoing creative excellence and create industry first ideas
- Excellent interpersonal skills, operates with gravitas and builds stakeholder trust with ease.
- An interest in the Premier League and Women’s Super League.
