In the role of an Edit Technician here at ITV, you would be responsible for delivering a high level of client-focused support and services to productions using ITV Technology’s facilities.

Hiring range: £22,000 - £30,000 FTE

The team

We’re global and local, producing in 13 countries across 60+ labels in the UK, US, Australia, France, Germany, The Nordics, Italy and more. The role:

  • To provide Media Management and perform or support editing processes
  • To utilise current broadcast equipment in conjunction with emerging IT technologies and support the wider post production department with a focus on operational efficiency and business targets
  • To assist senior members of the department in their roles and develop less senior members of the technical team.

 

Duties would include but not limited to: 

  • Provide a high service level for clients with the ability to prioritise workload across multiple projects in line with departmental & Health and safety guidelines
  • Ensuring that operational efficiencies are considered and maintained 
  • Operating all the equipment in the media hub relevant to the role and to work with clients to advise how best to achieve production requirements
  • Manipulating digital media to deliver high quality, creative and/or technical solutions to client or production requests
  • Editing programme material where required
  • To assist editors where requested in support of their duties
  • Working with the senior management team and Production Support teams to ensure there are effective, defined and written operational protocols 
  • Completing technical previews to the standards specified by individual broadcasters (e.g. ITV, BBC, Sky, Discovery etc.)
  • Supporting the department’s lines and transmission services 
  • Drive management, organising media and project files, archiving & restoring to and from back up systems
  • Creation and or distribution of file based media such as transcoding, upload and download e.g. FTP and streaming media
  • Ensuring all relevant post production housekeeping is in good order, such as server media management, project backups and archiving and to report utilisation.
  • Providing an advanced level of first line software and hardware technical support network for personnel in all areas of post production including video and audio editors, dubbing mixers, colourists and graphic designers (i.e. troubleshooting)
  • Working closely with Technical Support, ensuring all suites and operational areas are fit for purpose. To report and track faults to ensure a successful and rapid conclusion
  • Advising clients on production processes and coordinating assets and projects between production, related departments and external suppliers.

 

Skills you’ll need (minimum criteria):

  • Strong knowledge of Post Production workflows, Avid Media Composer, broadcast standards and file formats, production processes
  • Highly proficient with broadcast IT and broadcast equipment, NLEs, DAWs, GFX software, transcoders, standards converters etc.
  • Vision and hearing capable of discerning video and audio quality to broadcast standards.

  • An understanding of different challenges / opportunities and adapts priorities whilst working with absolute precision
  • Strong understanding of IT networks.
  • Excellent organisational skills with a keen eye for detail
  • Ability to work towards timelines and budget parameters 
  • Ability to prioritise, willingness to learn & have enthusiasm for new challenges
  • Keeping up to date with the latest market trends and new technologies.
