Media Planning Supervisor
We’re on the hunt for a passionate, dedicated and TV-obsessed Media Planning Supervisor to join the UK Lifestyle & Entertainment Marcomms team.
About the Role
Position Summary:

Discovery is a global media leader, built on great teamwork and collaboration and we want you to be a part of it with us. 


As a team, we are responsible for managing and delivering all promotional campaigns for Discovery UK’s lifestyle and entertainment brands – including flagships TLC and Quest Red.

 

As the Media Planning Supervisor, you will be responsible for the effective management and optimisation of the on-air promotional inventory across both our Pay channels TLC, Animal Planet, Investigation Discovery, Home & Health and Free-to-Air brands, Quest Red & Food Network.


Responsibilities:
  • Work with the Marcomms Director to define, plan and communicate the on-air promotional strategy, and ensure that objectives are met within the UK business.
  • Work closely with the Media Planner Supervisor for Factual & Sport Brands to develop a holistic cross portfolio approach for key campaigns, ensuring balanced airtime according to business requirements.
  • Manage the UK Marcomms Lifestyle & Entertainment Media Planning team, including multiple Media Planners, identifying strengths, agreeing objectives, and providing ongoing coaching and development.
  • Manage stakeholder relationships in all airtime and cross promotional matters.
  • Communicate and report on campaign performance to business stakeholders with key results, insights and forecasts.
  • Work closely with all other functions within the UK business including the scheduling and research teams to ensure all insight and previous data informs campaign planning.
  • Work with Inventory Management and UK Commercial team to analyse and evaluate network airtime, ensuring maximum inventory for commercialisation.
  • Champion a network-first approach.
    Co-own & communicate the monthly promotables document to stakeholders, ensuring synergy of promotional communication objectives across function.
  • Provide advice and user support for Gripit and Techedge for the Media Planners.
  • Be the functional point person for all issues relating to Media Planning expertise and promotional airtime.
  • Ensure that Media Planning strategy is in line with OFCOM regulations as appropriate.

Candidate Profile:
Requirements:
  • 3+ years experience of devising and implementing successful on air media planning strategies and processes.
  • Ability to develop expertise, drive engagement, and create empowered, highly motivated teams with strong values.
  • An in-depth understanding of optimisation, commercial drivers and ROI.
    Clear, confident communicator, able to align senior stakeholders, overcoming issues and conflicts as they arise.
  • A high level of numerical accuracy with the ability to interpret and explain complicated research data, creating relevant actionable insights.
  • Industrious and organised, with an aptitude for seeking out better ways of doing things.
  • Thrives under pressure, maintaining excellent time management, resilience and calm at all times.
  • Highly computer literate with expertise in specialist systems such as Techedge, IBMS, GripIt or similar.
