Lead Media Manager
TVT are seeking a Lead Media Manager to be responsible for a variety of tasks including encoding and transcoding.

You will also be responsible for the delivery of an efficient, proactive and professional media delivery service.

About the Role

Purpose of the role:

As the Lead Media Manager, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks including encoding and transcoding basic data to the supplied client specification and to process work as required. You will also be responsible for the delivery of an efficient, proactive and professional media delivery service. 


This role actively contributes to the continued growth and development of technology driven operations. You must ensure that all transmission and production material is transcoded accurately, available when required, and delivered efficiently according to transmission schedules or other business and client requirements.

 

In addition, you will be involved with the recruitment, training and staff scheduling. The Lead Media Manager represents Media Management as stakeholder on projects and determines best practice for the team.


Principal Accountabilities:

  • Ensure that daily operation of media management procedures are correctly carried out.
  • Ensure that all transmission and production material is ingested, quality checked, processed and transcoded accurately, available when required, and delivered efficiently to deadline.
  • Train staff and implement new procedures and systems as and when they arise.
  • Develop, manage and maintains excellent relationships with colleagues at all levels, integrates well into teams. Demonstrates excellent communication skills and emotional intelligence with others.
  • Act as stakeholder for Media Management on projects.
  • Recruit and retain the best talent for TVT, participating in the advertising, interviewing and selection of candidates.
  • Understand our client contracts to ensure delivery meets or exceeds requirements, is in line with agreed specifications and timelines, and all reporting is referenced to agreed service levels.
  • Understand and documents TVT workflows, software and systems, including details of interfaces and hand-offs with clients and other third parties.
  • Work with colleagues to balance utilisation of shared resources effectively to ensure deadlines are met across all clients.
  • Perform VT ingest, file intake, QC check, encode or transcode, on all incoming material in priority order using TVT’s ContentSelect platform, meeting client requirements and reporting/escalating any issues. Use a waveform monitor and audio monitoring to ensure signals meet correct specifications.
  • Perform basic editing (eg adding VT clocks or laying back audio tracks) and export in correct format as required.
  • Maintain regular housekeeping of all relevant systems, setting housekeeping, archiving, backup and deletion rules to meet contractual requirements.
  • Along with the Operations Manager, share accountability for the security of the content and data held on TVT systems belonging to TVT and the clients. Identifies optimum working practises, works collaboratively to ensure compliance with all relevant standards of content owners and regulatory bodies.
  • Ensure Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Plans are in place and well understood. Create and reviews the plan to ensure the needs of the business are met and align with TVT strategy.
  • Identify commercial and operational opportunities presented by new technologies or ways of Such other duties as the management may from time to time reasonably require.

About You

Experience, knowledge & skills required:

  • Previous experience in media companies and dealing with broadcast or on-demand service files
  • Good knowledge of tape and file formats.
  • Competence with Mac, PC, Microsoft Office.
  • Experience of working with ingest, QC, edit, transcode and other media technologies (e.g. Vantage, iCR, Adobe Premiere, Adobe Photoshop).
  • Good knowledge of video and audio standards, measurements and measurement technologies (e.g. loudness metering, vector scope etc.)
  • Ability to accurately identify faults, artifacts and other problems with video and audio signals and determine the best course of action for each.

Details

Hours of work:

  • Normally Monday to Friday office hours, but must be willing to move to a 7 day per week rota if required for operational reasons.
