Media Manager

About Us

Together TVT and DMC bring together an end-to-end content services and logistics offering: from versioning and compliance, through media management, VOD asset creation and delivery, archive and library services, including digitisation and restoration of legacy formats, content aggregation, sales fulfilment and access services to multi-platform channel playout.

TVT’s specialist compliance viewing and editing teams are responsible for the legal and regulatory compliance of thousands of hours of programming for major broadcast groups’ UK and international audiences.

Our cloud-based ContentSelect platform offers specialist software tools to instigate, manage and track all workflows from ingest to delivery and store, including sophisticated compliance modules.

Purpose of the Role

As a VT/MM you will be responsible for a variety of tasks including encoding and transcoding basic data to the supplied client specification and to process work as required. You will also be responsible for the delivery of an efficient, proactive and professional media delivery service.

As a team member involved in the operation, this role actively contributes to the continued growth and development of technology driven operations. 

You must ensure that all transmission and production material is transcoded accurately, available when required, and delivered efficiently according to transmission schedules or other business and client requirements.

Principal accountabilities
  • To ensure that all transmission and production material is transcoded accurately, available when required, and delivered efficiently according to transmission schedules or other business and client requirements.
  • To ensure that as part of the daily operation media management procedures are correctly carried out. The Media Manager will need to be able to train staff and implement new procedures and systems as and when they arise.
  • To facilitate the workflow to other areas of the business, including Format Transfer, Edit Suites, Quality Control and compliance.
  • To perform a QC check on all incoming material, meeting clients requirements and reporting any issues internally
  • To ingest material in priority order, meeting client deadlines 
  • To be responsible for encoding and transcoding basic data to required formats
  • To maintain regular housekeeping of all relevant systems, as dictated by the current procedures
  • To understand and carry out accurate record keeping of work undertaken
  • To ensure all operational procedures are followed
  • To be able to read a waveform monitor
  • Train staff and freelancers when required 
  • Develop, manage and maintains excellent relationships with colleagues at all levels, integrates well into teams. Demonstrates excellent communication skills and emotional intelligence with others. 
  • Perform basic editing (eg adding VT clocks or laying back audio tracks) and export in correct format as required.
  • Such other duties as the management may from time to time reasonably require.

Scope and Impact
The role directly impacts our client’s output. The post holder must have high levels of personal integrity and is required to take a considerable level of personal responsibility for their work.  

Organised and systematic in approach, punctilious attention to detail and be able to work effectively under pressure and to tight deadlines.

  • Reports to the Lead Media Manager in a team led by the Operations Manager. 
  • Liaises with other TVT departments such as Coordinators and Library in an operational setting.

Candidate Profile

Experience, knowledge & skills required:
  • Previous experience in media companies and dealing with broadcast files
  • Working knowledge of tape and file formats
  • Competence with Mac, PC, Microsoft Word and Excel 
  • Knowledge of how to use iCR, FCP and Adobe Premiere.
