Media Operations Manager

The Broadcasting team at the Premier League are looking for a Media Operations Manager to work with the Head of Broadcast Operations and the Head of Media Rights Delivery to provide a best-in-class service to our Rights Holders and Clubs.

This is an exciting opportunity to join an experienced team of broadcasting experts at the Premier League. 

The role would suit a driven, ambitious and personable candidate, with excellent communications skills and ideally a background in Club communications or matchday broadcast operations.

We have a wide variety of responsibilities. These include organising the competition and its Rule Book as well as managing the centralised broadcast and commercial rights. The work we do in conjunction with the Clubs also goes far beyond the 90 minutes. 

We support and provide a framework for youth development, we protect the organisation’s intellectual property, support the wider game and community programmes, undertake international development work and liaise with governing bodies and other leagues.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the day-to-day relationships with Clubs, Domestic and International Broadcasters, Premier League Productions and other departments within the Premier League. This will include regular meetings with senior staff from Premier League Clubs.
  • Seek, drive and implement improvements in the Media Access framework, to enhance the content offering to Rights Holders.
  • Devise and deliver broadcast facilities support for UK Broadcasters to the highest level.
  • Assist with the day-to-day management of the Match Manager programme and the Premier League’s media rights delivery.
  • Support the Head of Broadcast Operations with broadcast facilities surveys for promoted Clubs.
  • Become a Match Manager and attend matchdays, BPPs, PLP content days and other media events as required. This will involve building and maintaining effective working relationships with a range of personnel.
  • Manage the pre-season Media Access Day delivery to the satisfaction of Clubs and partners.
  • Assist the Head of Media Rights Delivery with benchmarking by monitoring the latest trends in content generation. Use that knowledge to propose ways to improve our content offering.

Requirements for the role:

  • At least five years’ experience working in a Sports, Broadcasting or Club Communications role.
  • A knowledge of/interest in Football/Sport and the workings of organisations involved in the industry.
  • Detailed knowledge of either Club communications or broadcasting operations.
  • Works calmly under pressure and has a keen, can-do attitude.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to multitask and prioritise effectively.
  • First class Microsoft Office skills (especially Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
  • Excellent attention to detail and deadlines, taking pride in the quality of work produced.
  • Strong interpersonal and literacy skills with the ability to interact well with people at all levels.
  • Able to read situations sensitively and intelligently with an understanding of strategic context (knowing when to persist and when not to).
  • Resilient and calm manner. Tactful and diplomatic.
  • Weekend working is a requirement of the role and there will be offsite meetings that require travelling away from the main London office.

Nice-to-haves for the role:

  • Good contacts in the area of football, sports and broadcasting.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Visio.
  • Matchday experience as a Broadcaster or in Club communications role.
  • Management experience desired but not essential.
