Your key responsibilities


As a Technical Supervisor in Sky Studios, you will be the technical lead across a broad range of technical production areas at Sky. You will significantly contribute to the effective and efficient delivery of all the technical functions that service the requirements of all Sky and some third party channels, using the resources of Sky Production Services.


  • On the day production technical ownership, ensuring our clients feel confident you are the technical lead as you liaise with various crafts and departments guaranteeing our clients requirements are met.
  • Demonstrate strong technical knowledge as the first line of support, ensuring the gallery and studio are fit for purpose and safe for use.  Operate as the key point of contact for all incidents affecting studio operations across all crafts and escalating when necessary.  
  • Ensure high quality of all assigned productions being recorded or broadcast through various measures such as vision control (‘racking’) and monitoring output.  
  • Work with the team to update equipment, processes and provide creative ideas and solutions to enhance productions and the client experience
  • Pro-actively engage with the client, management team, bookings and other departments as needed to guarantee the highest quality output
  • Maintain and develop appropriate comprehensive technical documentation, providing training to other members of crew and receiving training to continue high standards of the department.

Your skills

  • Up-to-date knowledge of broadcast technical equipment
  • A practical understanding of all related disciplines in live and studio TV production
  • Strong organisational skills, excellent communication and client facing skills
  • Be able to step into any studio environment on events and issues affecting technical operations
  • Highly motivated, with a commitment to continuous self-improvement.
  • A strong work ethic, with a positive, can-do attitude.
  • Demonstrate resilience under pressure
  • Well informed and up to date on broadcast developments and production processes.
