Great opportunity to work onsite at a Fortune 50 Digital Media company with Vaco.

Must be fluent in Russian and English and understand niche genres and interests of music listeners in Russia.

ABOUT THE ROLE 

We are seeking a Music Editor to work with a Fortune 50 Digital Media company. You must be fluent in Russian and English - equivalent to native speaker level.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Pitch, create, and optimize editorial features across a wide range of genres in tune with user interests
  • Contribute to the improvement of back catalog selection and metadata quality
  • Identify and drive co-promotion or cross-promotion opportunities with internal and external partners
  • Conduct metrics-based analysis of playlist performance and provide recommendations for enhancing their effectiveness
  • Support partner and technical teams to troubleshoot user-facing issues
  • Work with Engineering to ensure all titles in programming plans are ordered and ingested
  • Participate in regular meetings with content partners, in order to identify editorial opportunities
  • Contribute to Client’s global editorial team and its efforts to drive site improvements and innovative features on behalf of users worldwide.

Daily Responsibilities:

  • Create, commission, and QA playlists
  • Maintain Client’s editorial calendar for a local audience
  • Data entry for monitoring performance of playlists and campaigns.

  • The position is based at our client's fabulous London offices; however, you will be on the payroll of Vaco San Francisco [ www.sfvaco.com ].

ABOUT YOU

Key Skills, Abilties, & Experience:

  • As a Music Editor, you are a self-starter who will ramp up quickly to contribute to Client’s editorial team
  • You have experience working as a playlist curator, music journalist or critic, or editor for a digital music service
  • You are well-versed in the music - from mainstream to niche genres, and popular culture most relevant in the Russian region
  • You are a music expert, but are also able to understand and program to the interests of an average music listener in Russian.
  • Additionally, you bring strong analytical abilities and impeccable oral and written communication skills
  • You possess a high degree of comfort and flexibility when working cross-functionally with product, design, marketing, engineering, and other teams to develop an innovative user experience
  • You enjoy working both independently and collaboratively to develop new ideas and scalable processes
  • You bring a proven ability to prioritize, meet critical deadlines, and take on challenging tasks with enthusiasm and a problem-solving mindset.


Minimum Requirements:

  • Educated to degree level  - BA/BSc required (Manager is open to degree)
  • 1-2 years in an editorial/merchandising role for a mobile or online digital content business
  • Ability to speak and write in Russian and English fluently and idiomatically
  • Deep knowledge and understanding of the music industry and culture in Russia
  • Strong editorial and creative skills -- ability to craft messaging and work with design and production resources to drive creative execution
  • Strong analytical skills; ability to analyze research or performance data and apply that analysis to optimize our editorial strategy
  • Experience working with both external and internal partners on co-promotion or cross-promotion strategies and campaigns
  • Knowledge of and experience with online best practices
  • High attention to detail, ability to maintain several different projects simultaneously, while creating precise and effective customer-facing communications.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree (MBA/MS) a plus.
  • Experience working for a music streaming service.
